Bike Ride Fabulous Friend Card for WWYS #129

The Bike Ride Stamp Set and coordinating Build a Bike Framelits dies from the Annual Catalogue have oodles of options for customising a cute bicycle, from flowers and fruit to books and a little dog. And Stampin’ Up! have designed the set so you can stamp the solid images with the outline images to create super fast and easy images and then die-cut them. Then all that’s left is to assemble them to create a little “cycle scene”! You can also purchase the stamps and dies as a bundle and save 10%.

I started with the Brick Wall embossing folder and to a small amount of embossing paste added one drop of Crumb Cake ink and mixed it on my silicone craft sheet. I applied this to the raised brick side of the folder very thinly and ran it through the Big Shot, and BOOM! instant texture! I used the stone die from the die set (which embosses rather than cuts) to make my cobbled path in the foreground. I added a few tufts of grass from the High Tide Stamp Set in Wild Wasabi (two of which got covered by the bike wheels!) and sponged the path with Crumb Cake and Early Espresso using Sponge Daubers.

I wanted the bike to be shiny, and although you can’t see it in the picture, I clear heat embossed the bicycle frame after stamping it in Bermuda Bay ink. The pedal and bicycle rims were silver heat embossed too. The basket and the rack at the back were die-cut from Silver Foil cardstock so they shone as well. All the black “bits” were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, the handlebars in Crushed Curry and the cute sunflowers in Daffodil Delight with a Sweet Sugarplum wrap. I used Tombow multipurpose liquid glue and dimensionals to assemble the bicycle.

For the sentiment I die-cut the “friend” word from the Lovely Words Thinlits and trimmed out the word from the centre of the oval. I adhered it using dimensionals above the bike. Then I used a combination sentiment “you are a fabulous” from the Thoughtful Banners Stamp Set. This set is great for mixing and matching to make up your own phrases. I stamped them in Versamark onto a thin strip of Basic Black cardstock and then white heat embossed them. The strip was adhered using dimensionals. For a finishing touch I added some silver Metallic Enamel Shapes.

Using Tombow glue, I adhered the card front to a Basic Black panel, and then mounted it onto a Thick Whisper White card base.

Beetles & Bugs Card for WWYS #117

Hello and welcome to the WWYS Challenge. This week’s stamp set is from the Occasions Catalogue – Beetles & Bugs; sadly another set that will be retiring on 31 May. I you love it, grab it now! Now I know some people don’t like bugs at all, but how adorable are these?! And you can use them for all sorts of fun backgrounds as well as focal points like I’ve done with my card today. I have always loved ladybirds. Do you remember the rhyme “Ladybird, ladybird, fly away home …” from your childhood? For me it brings back sweet memories of warm days and carefree playtime surrounded by nature’s gifts.

I started with a card base of Crumb Cake, a layer of Basic Black, and my top layer of Shimmery White, onto which I watercoloured some bright summery colours (Delightful Dijon, Crushed Curry and Watermelon Wonder). A white heat embossed leaf from the Vintage Leaves Stamp Set provides a background for my lovely ladybirds which I stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and watercoloured with Real Red ink. And yes, I fussy cut them! I also added Fine-tip Glue Pen to their bodies to make them look round and shiny like in real-life. The sentiment (from Endless Thanks Stamp Set) was also stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black directly onto the card front. Gold and clear sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment and a little of the Copper Trim (a new product from the soon-to-be-released Annual Catalogue) finishes it off beautifully.

TIP: Add dimension and shine with the fine-tip glue pen as I’ve done here with the ladybirds. Be careful though – it takes around 24 hours to dry completely!

Thanks for visiting my blog. If you’ve left me a comment, thank you! You’ve made my day. Be sure to hop on over to the WWYS blog to see what everyone else has made and enter your own project. You could be our next guest designer!

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Special Guest Lea Denton

Welcome to the Crazy Crafters’ Blog Hop with special guest Lea Denton. Lea lives in the UK and has been crafting for over 25 years! Her designs are gorgeous. We are excited to be hopping with her today. You can check out all the yummy inspiration on Lea’s blog by clicking on her picture.

We are each CASEing (Copying and Selectively Editing) one of Lea’s designs today. The card I chose to CASE (shown below) is a fun spinner card, and I haven’t made one of these before (don’t ask me why). Lea’s card uses the Lift Me Up bundle, but I’ve decided to go with the Eastern Palace Suite for my version.

And here it is.

I love blue and gold together, so I heat embossed both sentiments in gold and used Dapper Denim with Gold Foil Paper and a gorgeous foiled paper from the Designer Series Paper pack. This suite is beautiful, and you can choose from two exclusive bundles that include freebies BUT they’re only available to purchase in this format until 1 June; they won’t be bundled in the Annual Catalogue, so get in early and get yours! Click here to see the offer. And here’s the inside. I chose to keep it clean and simple and just let the opulence of the gold speak.

To continue along the hop, select the person next on the list after me, Gail Davidson, to see all the gorgeous creations from Lea and the other Crazy Crafters.

Thanks for visiting my blog today. If you’ve left me a comment, thank you! You’ve made my day.

Dragonfly Dreams Card for WWYS #108

Hello and welcome to this week’s WWYS Challenge. This week’s stamp set is Dragonfly Dreams and Oh My! that dragonfly is just gorgeous! Here’s my card:

I wish you could see the sparkle on this card! I tried a different technique – with my ink smooshing I included a couple of drops of clear Wink of Stella so that it is dispersed across the entire inked section. I think it looks better than adding it later as you would see lines where the sparkle is and isn’t (if that makes sense!). I was really pleased with the way it turned out, particularly after deciding to do the ink smooshing after I’d already stamped the dragonfly! Phew!

The dragonfly was created using my MISTI and a few steps. I first inked up just the wings with Archival Black ink and stamped. Then I cleaned my stamp off and inked up just the wings again with Versamark and then stamped this and clear heat embossed them. I then used markers to colour the body and stamped again. The MISTI is great for techniques like this as you get perfect placement every time. I then watercoloured the wings making sure to vary the colour and leave some spots un-inked (for realism you understand!) and added some Wink of Stella. After using my Stampin’ Trimmer to trim off both long edges and leaving the dragonfly’s wings extend past the panel, I gave it some dimension by using my Paper Snips to just cut the wings on the left and used a bone folder to give them some “curl”.

Of course I ink smooshed the inside of the card too before adding the sentiment. You can see what I mean about adding Wink of Stella afterwards here. Thanks for visiting my blog. If you’ve left me a comment, thank you! You’ve made my day. Be sure to hop on over to the WWYS blog to see what everyone else has made and enter your own project. Crazy Crafters’ Blog Hop with Rachel Tessman

Welcome to the Crazy Crafters’ Blog Hop with special guest Rachel Tessman. Rachel lives in Minnesota in the United States and has been a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator for 17 years! In that time she has earned multiple awards and accolades and last year ranked in the top 100 globally for sales, recruiting and leadership. Rachel not only designs cards and 3D but has a passion for scrapbooking too. We are excited to be hopping with her today. You can check out all the gorgeous inspiration on Rachel’s blog by clicking on her picture.

We are each CASEing (Copying and Selectively Editing) one of Rachel’s designs today. The card I chose to CASE (shown below) is simple but striking, and features the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits. I chose this one because I love the layout and I also kept the doily accent.

Here’s my take on it:

I went for a bumble bee, some watercolouring with pencils and a lace border. I’ve used the spotlight technique, just colouring a small part of the Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper (which you can earn for free until 31 March). And the idea for that magnifying glass was inspired by my friend and fellow Crazy Crafter Kim Oliver. You can see Kim’s beautiful card here. The sentiment is from the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set and the magnifying glass is made from a piece of window sheet and two pieces of Silver Foil cut using the Layering Circles Framelits and the Build It Framelits.

Here’s a better view of the focal image:

I loved making this card. I hope you like it too. To continue along the hop, select the person next on the list after me, Gail Davidson, to see all the gorgeous creations from Rachel and the other Crazy Crafters.

Thanks for visiting my blog today. If you’ve left me a comment, thank you! You’ve made my day.

Lift Me Up Card for WWYS #104

Hello and welcome to this week’s WWYS Challenge. We’re playing with the Lift Me Up Stamp Set this week. With its co-ordinating Up & Away Thinlits Dies and Carried Away Designer Series Paper (which you can earn for free with a $90 purchase until 31 March) it’s so easy to create gorgeous cards.

Anyone who knows me knows I love to make “different” cards – you know, out there, off the wall stuff. So when I was designing this card I thought “Why not send ACTUAL smiles across the miles?”! And so I used the medium sized balloon die and some Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate to make a “sack” of smiles. OK, I know the design on the acetate looks more like fish scales than netting, but I wasn’t brave enough to draw it! The focal image sits on a panel of Shimmery White Cardstock on which I did a colour wash using Emerald Envy, Marina Mist and Tempting Turquoise inks. I think it’s a fair representation of green grass graduating up to vivid blue sky.

And how cute are those smiley faces? They’re from the little stamp set that comes with the Good Vibes Project Life Accessory Pack. I combined them with some silver and white heart sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment.

Thanks for visiting my blog. If you’ve left me a comment, thank you! You’ve made my day. Be sure to hop on over to the WWYS blog to see what everyone else has made and enter your own project. You could be our next guest designer!

Stitched Shapes Framelits Card

Hello and welcome to my blog and today’s project. The Crazy Crafters are excited to be hopping with Val Moody today.  Val is a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator from the UK, and I am a HUGE fan of her work. She is in the Top 100 demos globally – so well deserved! You can check out Val’s blog by clicking on her picture.

We are each CASEing (Copying and Selectively Editing) one of Val’s designs today. I chose to CASE the card below. I love the clean, crisp look of this card and the pop of contrasting colour.

I chose to change it up and use squares instead of circles, and Pool Party instead of Real Red.

The sentiment is from the Lovely Stitching Stamp Set, the little leaves from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies, and those gorgeous little flowers are part of the brand new Sending Love Suite. Adorable, aren’t they? They come in natural, and I’ve coloured them to match my card. I also stamped the flower image from the Lovely Stitching set in Versamark behind the sentiment.

To continue along the hop, select the person next on the list after me, Gail Davidson, to see all the gorgeous creations from Val and the rest of the Crazy Crafters.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. If you’ve left me a comment, thank you! You’ve made my day.

Crazy Crafters’ Blog Hop with Special Guest Amy Koenders

amy-koenders-header

Welcome to the Crazy Crafters’ Blog Hop with special guest Amy Koenders. Amy is an extremely talented paper crafter from Georgia, Atlanta in the USA and our team is very excited to be hopping with her today. You can check out Amy’s blog by clicking on her picture.

We are each CASEing (Copying and Selectively Editing) one of Amy’s designs today. I chose the card below. I love the simple, elegant style of Amy’s card, and the little geometric strip peeping out below the banner. I took that idea, and the three panels to make my card.

I chose a blue/green colour palette and cut a bunch of the strip die-cut from the Flourish Thinlits Dies in Mint Macaron, Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point. Don’t they look gorgeous together? I adhered two each to panels in the same colours.

The sentiment is a sneak peek of a new item from the 2017 Occasions Catalogue – Suite Sentiments Stamp Set. I’m telling you, you NEED this set! It has so many gorgeous sentiments in the most adorable fonts! I used my markers to create an ombre effect. I used the brand new Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies to crop the sentiment and then adhered it to a layer of Mint Macaron using the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies. I just love how these dies all layer together. I offset the layering to add interest, and added some hearts from the Brights Enamel Shapes pack in Pacific Point. This image also shows the Wink of Stella I added to the die-cuts – so sparkly!

I added some Mint Macaron Sheer Linen Ribbon and finished the inside off with another of the die-cuts.

Ghoulish Grunge for WWYS #84

Who says you have to use a “Halloween” stamp set to make a Halloween card? My card for this week’s What Will You Stamp? Challenge shows a totally different way to use this raggedy netting image from the Ghoulish Grunge set, and it’s far from scary! It’s bright and colourful and looks very delicate when stamped in rainbow colours.

Here’s a visual of all the images in the stamp set. If you’d like to join in the fun and submit your own card using the Ghoulish Grunge Stamp set, just click on the image to go to the WWYS Challenge Blog. And you can check out the inspiration from the other Design Team members too! We’d love it if you could join us.

Sometimes if I have cut a strip of cardstock from an A4 sheet for another project, but the piece that is left is a little narrower or wider than my usual card base size of 14.9cm (if cut widthways) or 10.5cm (if cut lengthways), I will just use the whole piece rather than waste it. So this card is a smidgen wider than I would normally make. If it doesn’t fit into a standard envelope – hey, I’ll make my own with the Envelope Punch Board and some pretty Envelope Paper! So here are the exact measurements. Notice too, that I’ve attached the front panel so that it’s flush with the bottom for something a little bit different. I did start with a larger piece and cut it down a little; I like to do that when I’m not sure how the images will fit. So here are the measurements for you:

When I started to make this card, I really had no fixed concept of how it should look, but it was fun seeing what I could come up with. I used the rock ‘n’ roll technique to add some dimension to the netting image by inking the sides with a darker shade of ink, and I also used the kissing technique with the flourish image from the First Sight Stamp Set. This is also where the sentiment comes from. I decided that a straight strip of the washi tape (from the Pop Of Pink suite) didn’t suit the style of this card, so I tore the piece in half lengthways and placed them with the (outside) straight edges together. A little linen thread wrapped around a few times finished it off nicely. I was happy with the end result. What do you think?

If you like this colour combination, please feel free to save and share it.  You can find more inspiration on my Pinterest Colour Inspiration Board.
