Congratulations Card for a Special Reason!

posted in: Cards, Congratulations | 0

Hello! Today I’m sharing a congratulations card I made for a new team member using a couple of new stamp sets from the Occasions Catalogue – the Special Reason Stamp Set, along with the floral images from the Hostess set Thankful Life which I heat embossed and then sponged over with Daffodil Delight ink.

The Special Reason Stamp Set has coordinating framelits dies; these can be purchased as a bundle at a 10% saving.

The technique is triple time stamping which is not as hard as it looks!

I just adore these colours together: Peekaboo Peach and Flirty Flamingo for the flowers, and Wild Wasabi and Pear Pizzazz for the leaves.

Tip: Use sponge daubers to add shading to stamped images. Ink up with the lightest colour then daub on the darker colour to add depth.

The gorgeous petite font used in this stamp set is very versatile too; you can use the sentiments inside the card as well as on the card front.

I decided on a base of Sahara Sand to let the colours of the images shine.  What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by my blog. If you’ve left me a comment, thank you! You’ve made my day.

Sunshine Sayings for WWYS #99

Hello and welcome to our WWYS Challenge for this week! I have to confess I haven’t used the Sunshine Sayings set as much as a should have, but I had so much fun making this card, I think I’ll be using it more in future!  I wanted to keep it simple – well as simple as it can be for me! – and I had the design kinda mapped out in my head. But I have a confession to make – I actually meant to make a portrait card not a landscape version as you see here. Any guesses as to what happened? Well, after die cutting the flower I happened to flip my card over and I had already stamped my signature stamp on the back in, you guessed it, landscape! It was one of those self-deprecating moments – not pretty! But that’s the thing with cardmaking – it doesn’t matter; you can always make it work! I love that!!! So I just stamped and adhered my sentiment sideways too! 🙂

I did a bit of shading behind the flower and applied some Wink of Stella and it looks gorgeous in real life.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. If you’ve left me a comment, thank you! You’ve made my day. Be sure to hop on over to the WWYS blog to see what everyone else has made and enter your own project. You could be our next guest designer!

Bella & Friends for WWYS #98

Welcome to our WWYS Challenge for this week! Bella and Friends is such a cutesy set and just begs to be watercoloured. I had yet to try out my brand new watercolour pencils from the Occasions Catalogue (if you haven’t got your copy yet, click on the big orange button below this post and I’ll get it straight out to you). Back to the watercolour pencils – I used an aqua painter on the little dog image using watercolour paper. You can also use a blender pen if you’re using normal cardstock or DSP. I was AMAZED with the result; the colours blended so easily.

I backed the image with a piece of Sweet Sugarplum stamped with the dotty image from Playful Backgrounds and paired it with the dotty paper from the Playful Pallette DSP Stack. The sentiment was die-cut using one of the dies from the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits. The ribbon is new from the Occasions Catalogue’s Succulent Garden Ribbon Combo Pack. It’s gorgeous and soft.

Here’s a close-up of the watercoloured image.

Thoughtful Banners for WWYS #97

Hello and welcome! I hope you all had a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.  Our very first What Will You Stamp? Challenge for 2017 is to create using the Thoughtful Banners Stamp Set. This set coordinates with the Duet Banner Punch and is very useful for putting together your own message as there are LOTS of words and phrases. The stamp set and punch are available to purchase as a bundle.

Item # 142330 – Thoughtful Banners Photopolymer Bundle

I decided to do a sentiment background and chose Mint Macaron and Smoky Slate as my colours.

I had a strip with the negative from a project I had made using the Flourish Thinlits so I knew I wanted to incorporate that piece into my design. I also wanted to try out the new Lift Me Up bundle. So I decided on a graduation card for this project.

I stamped rows of the sentiment in Smoky Slate and one in Mint Macaron as a highlight. I then simply adhered the balloons, the banner and scattered some metallic stars.

Tip: You can often save and use the negative pieces from diecuts to use on another project, saving cardstock and giving you extra elements for another card.

If you like this colour combo, feel free to share and pin it. You can find more on my Pinterest colour inspiration board.

Here’s to Cheers for WWYS #96

Hello! Welcome to this week’s What Will You Stamp? Challenge. This week we’re creating with the Here’s to Cheers Stamp Set which also has coordinating framelits so you can make gorgeous gift tags.

Here’s to Cheers Bundle – Item #: 143528 (Wood Mount); Item #: 143529 (Clear Mount)

My design for this week is a jazzed up bottle of Moet – you could do this with just about any size or shape of bottle, jar, or even baked goodies likes cakes and loaves (there’s an example on page 39 of the Holiday Catalogue).

I just cut a bunch of the swirly patterned rectangles and adhered them to a Delightful Dijon sleeve, along with some ribbon. Then I heat embossed the sentiment in copper onto black cardstock, die cut it with one of the squares from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies, attached it to the copper foil bottle tag and decorated it with more gorgeous ribbon. Finally, I popped it into one of the large cellophane bags and finished it off with a beautiful double-looped ribbon.

I hope you like my champers gift wrapping. 🙂

Flurry of Wishes Card for WWYS #95

Hello! and welcome to this week’s What Will You Stamp? Challenge. This week we’re designing with the Flurry of Wishes Stamp Set. You can purchase the stamp set and coordinating Snow Flurry Punch and Flower Medallion Punch.

Item # 139680: Snow Flurry Punch and Item # 137417 Flower Medallion Punch

It’s hard to see in the picture, but I started by adding some glitter snowflakes using Heat and Stick powder and Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Some more snowflakes were clear heat embossed in Soft Sky ink and then a good spattering of Pacific Point ink followed. The large snowflake was clear heat embossed in Pacific Point ink and punched out with the Flower Medallion Punch and popped up on dimensionals.

I added some washi tape from the Floral Boutique suite before adding the Night of Navy clear embossed sentiment onto a banner and attached with dimensionals. The card was finished off with some of the Soft Sky coloured sequins from the Fancy Frost sequins pack.

I decorated the inside of the card with the coordinating sentiment, some more Pacific Point splatters, a strip of Floral Boutique washi tape and a small snowflake clear embossed over Soft Sky ink and punched out with the Snow Flurry Punch.

If you like this colour combo, feel free to share and pin it. You can find more on my Pinterest colour inspiration board.

Christmas Pines for WWYS #94

Hello! and welcome to this week’s What Will You Stamp? Challenge. This week’s challenge is to use the Christmas Pines Stamp Set. You can purchase the stamp set and coordinating Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies as a bundle but you’d better be quick as it’s on the retiring list. Click here to grab yours before it’s gone forever!

Item # 143496 Christmas Pines Photopolymer Bundle

To start, I embossed the front panel of Whisper White cardstock with the Holly embossing folder and gave it a watercolour wash of Soft Sky. I then made a little “posy” of pine leaves topped with a couple of the gorgeously detailed pine cones cut from Early Espresso and Copper Foil. I added a Cherry Cobbler bow and finished it off with a couple of the Mini Jingle Bells.  So lovely!

You can see in the close-up photo below the sparkle on the bow. That was achieved by applying clear Wink of Stella and then Fine-Tip Glue pen over the top. I love the effect this creates. The sentiment was then stamped onto vellum and clear heat embossed and the card was finished off with some of the Soft Sky coloured sequins from the Fancy Frost sequins pack.

Crazy Crafters’ Blog Hop with Lisa Curcio

Welcome to the Crazy Crafters’ Blog Hop with special guest Lisa Curcio. Lisa lives in Florida, USA and has been a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator for 18 years. She was ranked number 39 in the Global Top 100 Demonstrators this year! Congratulations Lisa!! She is also very active with the Stampin’ Up! sponsored Ronald McDonald House Charity in her local area. Our team is very excited to be hopping with her today. You can check out Cindy’s blog by clicking on her picture.

We are each CASEing (Copying and Selectively Editing) one of Lisa’s designs today. I chose to CASE the card below. I was intrigued with the “separated V-cut” design and loved the huge WOW factor despite it’s simplicity.

My card uses the Greetings from Santa Stamp Set from the Holiday Catalogue. Here’s a closer look at the Stamp Set images:

Greetings from Santa Stamp Set. Images © Stampin’ Up!

I chose Emerald Envy cardstock and paired it with some Designer Series Paper from the Presents & Pinecones pack. I thought it would be fun to change up the fancy cut used by Lisa on her card. I started with a piece of DSP half a centimetre narrower and shorter than the white panel, die cut a circle from the centre and then cut “channels” at random angles, just making sure that they were even in width.

I split the naughty or nice image http://www.honeytraveler.com/pharmacy/ across the three spaces left by my fancy cut. The snowflake cluster image and the Santa’s list image were then added and the two DSP panels were mounted onto the white panel using Foam Adhesive Strips. Some silver sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment scattered across the front and another Santa’s list image stamped inside completed this card.

TIPS: 1. When adhering raised panels (particularly when using DSP), ensure you add enough Foam Adhesive Strip in the centre of the panels to prevent them from “sagging” in the middle. 2. To stamp part of an image as in this card example, use Stampin’ Write Markers to colour only the part you want to use.

Just a reminder that the products from the new Occasions Catalogue will be available to order from January 4, 2017. If you live in Australia and you’d like one, you can order your copy here. If you can’t wait that long to order from the catalogue, you can join, purchase them on December 1, and get 20% discount.

To continue along the hop, select the person next on the list after me, Gail Davidson, to see all the gorgeous creations from Lisa and the rest of the Crazy Crafters. But before you go, if you like my design, I’d love it if you could take the time to leave a comment to let me know!

Thanks for stopping by today.
