Poinsettia Christmas Card for GDP013

posted in: Cards, Christmas | 6

I have to confess that although I bought the Festive Flower Builder Punch when the 2015 Holiday Catalogue was first released, this is the first time I’ve used it.  I have no idea why but I’m so glad that I finally got around to it.  I absolutely love it!  I had so much fun making this Poinsettia Christmas card and the results are stunning. 🙂

The Crumb Cake card base is 5″ x 5″ and I’ve then layered Very Vanilla on top of Old Olive.  These quintessential Christmas colours look great together and just happen to be the colours for this week’s Global Design Project colour challenge.  Woo Hoo!!!  The DT really excelled this week with some awesome projects.  Click on the image below to check them out.  And why not have a go yourself?

Poinsettia_Christmas_Card-1 Since the poinsettia is a traditional symbol of Christmas and the Reason for the Season Stamp Set also has a very traditional “feel” to it, my idea was to stay true to the style.  So I kept the glimmer and bling to a minimum, http://www.mindanews.com/buy-celexa/ with just a teeny yellow glimmer centre for the flower and a pearl to finish it off. Note:  The Reason for the Season Stamp Set and Festive Flower Builder Punch are available as a bundle in the 2015 Holiday Catalogue, saving 15%.  Brilliant! I just adore the font used in this greeting, which was stamped in Old Olive and clear embossed. Poinsettia_Christmas_Card-3 A strip of Home for Christmas DSP along the bottom adds a bit of nostalgia, and the Burlap Ribbon and Linen Thread frame the card and gives that gorgeous bloom a place to rest.       Poinsettia_Christmas_Card-2 I finished off the inside with a greeting from the fabulously versatile stamp set called … wait for it …. Versatile Christmas!  I absolutely LOVE this stamp set.  It’s been my “go to” set for Christmas cards this year.  Because there is quite a bit of dimension going on with this card, I pulled out my Envelope Punch Board and made an envelope with a custom liner too.  Easy peasy! Poinsettia_Christmas_Card-4 I hope you like my beautiful Poinsettia Christmas card as much as I do.  Thanks for stopping by today. XOXO Gail         Blog_End_Text

WDW #2 – Stylish Stripes Christmas Card

Oooh!  I’m so late with this week’s Weekly Deals Wednesday project – apologies.  My daughter Sam had her high school graduation this week and boy has it been heckers!  But I’m sure you’ll agree today’s project is rather stunning and quite worth waiting for!

It uses four of the five products on offer this week – the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Gold Glimmer Paper, Gold 1/8″ Ribbon and Brights Sequin Assortment.  You can check them all out here.

I chose to use Pacific Point cardstock because that was the colour of Sam’s formal gown.  A Christmas card with non-traditional colours is a refreshing change every now and then and I love the combination of blue and gold.

This card was relatively quick to make, although I did take the time to add some special little touches like the piercing around the sentiment (from the Cup of Cheer Stamp Set – I LOVE IT!) and the gold embossing on the little banner part of the sentiment.  What do you think?  I hope you like it.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Red Foil Christmas Card for GDP010

posted in: Christmas | 0

This week’s Global Design Project challenge has been a fun one.  A simple sketch = a simple card, and I loved making this one.  Here’s the sketch – very simple and elegant.

I love pairing rustic with glam and this card certainly does that!  A Kraft card base allows the embossed red foil panel to shine.  This is repeated with the Noel sentiment, cut using the Little Letter Thinlit dies, perched atop 1″ squares of Kraft card stock.

The red foil layer was embossed with the Elegant Dots Embossing Folder, adding gorgeous texture reminiscent of hanging Christmas baubles.  Lifting the squares up on dimensionals and adding a petite bow made from Gold Cording Trim adds texture and depth.

I hope you like today’s project.  Please leave me a comment if you do.  I’d love to read what you think.  Why not have a look at what the design team have done with this sketch and check out all the other entries in this fun challenge?  Just click on the sketch image above to go straight to the page.  Thanks for stopping by today.

WDW #1 – Circle Flip Card & Banner Punch

Oooh!!! I’m so excited about today’s circle flip card project.  As you know, Stampin’ Up! offers a selection of products from the current catalogues at 25% off the normal retail price, and these change each Wednesday.  This in itself is fabulous – but it just got better – because each Wednesday I’ll be bringing you a project using some or all of those products!  Woohoo!!  Today’s project is the first of what I’m calling the “Weekly Deals Wednesday” (WDW) series. I’ve combined four of the five products included in this week’s weekly deals – the Circle Card Thinlits Dies, the Banner Punch, and Hello Honey and Mossy Meadow Classic Stampin’ Pads to stamp the tiny hanging stars on the banner belly band.

WDW 20151111-1

There’s a space inside to add a personal message (which I’ve noticed isn’t available on some designs), and also, http://www.besttramadolonlinestore.com because I’ve modified and extended the card itself from the original die design, there’s also room to include a gift card or cash!

WDW 20151111-2

The DSP from the Merry Moments stack goes well with the accent colours and the gold embossed sentiments from the Cup of Cheer stamp set (front) and Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set (inside) add a bit of luxury, as do the gold Glimmer Paper accents.

WDW 20151111-3 The gold glimmer circles were punched with the 2½” circle punch and the Mossy Meadow circles (which I lifted up with dimensionals) were cut using the fifth smallest die from the Circles Collection Framelits dies.

I hope you like today’s project and that you’ll give it a try.  Be sure to check out all of the Weekly Deals on offer this week.  Thanks for stopping by.
