Banners for You Congrats Card for WWYS #122

Hello and welcome to this week’s Challenge at What Will You Stamp? This week we’re playing with Banners for You. I needed a congrats card this week as my daughter and her boyfriend are celebrating their 1st “anniversary” of being together. This stamp set lends itself to so many occasions. Here’s the card I made for them.

I used the “black magic” technique for my card. Starting with a piece of Whisper White cardstock, I stamped the flower images and then stamped over them with Versamark and clear heat embossed, then stamped the “donut” image in Versamark and clear heat embossed them as well. This is where the magic happens. I used my Archival black ink pad and covered the entire panel with ink. The heat embossed areas resist the black ink and you end up with a very unique look.

I’ve used Lemon Lime Twist cardstock as a contrast (hands up if you love this colour as much as I do!). I stamped the donut image again around the edges of the LLT panel in Versamark to give a subtle watermark effect. All that was left was to bling it up and I did that by adding some of the gorgeous new Glitter Enamel Dots.

Thanks for visiting my blog. If you’ve left me a comment, thank you! You’ve made my day. Be sure to hop on over to the WWYS blog to see what everyone else has made and enter your own project. You could be our next guest designer!

WWYS Hits 100 – Hooray!

Hello! Welcome to this week’s WWYS Challenge. This is a milestone week as What Will You Stamp? has reached 100 Challenges! Wahoo!! This week we’re using Number of Years Stamp Set. I made a special 6″ x 6″ congratulations card for today using the floral spray from this set. I also used a few other stamp sets to complete the project.

This card was inspired by Jennifer Maguire; she made some similar cards using a bunch of smaller images to make a background pattern of sorts but she coloured hers. I decided to go with full on gold! The Hooray sentiment comes from the Confetti Celebration Stamp Set, and I’ve also used some of the little floral and leaf images from the Love & Affection Stamp Set. After heat embossing the sentiment in the centre, I arranged the small images in the MISTI and stamped in Versamark then heat embossed. Turning the card a quarter turn each time I repeated this 3 times. The MISTI is a great tool for this kind of technique, and I don’t think I would have attempted this card without it.

For the inside of the card I used this GORGEOUS sentiment from the new Birthday Blast Stamp Set from the 2017 Occasions Catalogue. I just adore this font and I think it looks fabulous in gold! I layered Whisper White on Gold Foil. I also added some matching washi tape  from the Pop of Pink pack to the bottom of the panel for that extra somethin’ somethin’.

Tip:  When layering, especially with more expensive specialty cardstocks like foil sheets, cut the panel to size and then cut all the way around about 1 cm in from the edges, so you’re left with a frame. This saves wasting your cardstock.

To finish off this project, I made an envelope and embellished with more of that washi tape on the flap.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. If you’ve left me a comment, thank you! You’ve made my day. Be sure to hop on over to the WWYS blog to see what everyone else has made and enter your own project. You could be our next guest designer!

Congratulations Card for a Special Reason!

posted in: Cards, Congratulations | 0

Hello! Today I’m sharing a congratulations card I made for a new team member using a couple of new stamp sets from the Occasions Catalogue – the Special Reason Stamp Set, along with the floral images from the Hostess set Thankful Life which I heat embossed and then sponged over with Daffodil Delight ink.

The Special Reason Stamp Set has coordinating framelits dies; these can be purchased as a bundle at a 10% saving.

The technique is triple time stamping which is not as hard as it looks!

I just adore these colours together: Peekaboo Peach and Flirty Flamingo for the flowers, and Wild Wasabi and Pear Pizzazz for the leaves.

Tip: Use sponge daubers to add shading to stamped images. Ink up with the lightest colour then daub on the darker colour to add depth.

The gorgeous petite font used in this stamp set is very versatile too; you can use the sentiments inside the card as well as on the card front.

I decided on a base of Sahara Sand to let the colours of the images shine.  What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by my blog. If you’ve left me a comment, thank you! You’ve made my day.

Sunshine Wishes Card for GDP045

I’m very excited about this week’s GDP Challenge.  It seems like forever since I’ve played along.  And this week is a really special one, as the Design Team are giving players a chance to be a guest designer for their next colour challenge.  Woot! Woot!

I’ve been wanting to do a camouflaged die cut card since I saw a video by Laura Bassen using this technique, so this was the perfect opportunity.  Using the brand new Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, I chose the congrats sentiment and the loosey-goosey flower.  Here’s what I came up with:

Sunshine Wishes Congrats Card-1

The banner sentiment is from Crazy About You stamp set, and I’ve just added some of the new Metallic Enamel Shapes to finish it off.

Here’s a close-up of the sentiment.  I love this technique – it’s a clever way to add interest without cluttering the card.

Sunshine Wishes Congrats Card-2

Just a note about the new Big Shot Platform with Thin Die Adapter.  If you haven’t tried this yet, you have to!  The difference it makes to die-cutting is enormous.  It just cuts like butter!  I’ve included it in the supply list below.  Thanks for stopping by today.

If you live in Australia and you are looking for a demonstrator to purchase from or join up with I would love to look after you.

Endless Birthday Wishes Card for WWYS Challenge #65

I love a card that can be used for more than one occasion, and my card for this week’s WWYS Challenge, featuring the Endless Birthday Wishes Stamp Set fits the bill!  Yes, it does have a cake on it, but who’s to say it’s not a congratulations cake or a celebration cake for another special occasion?  Anyhow, you can see what the other Design Team members have created by clicking on the WWYS image below.  Want to join us and have a little fun?  You have until Sunday, May 22 at 10am to submit your entry.

#65 Endless Birthday Wishes

I decided to break out a few of the new In Colours for this week’s card – Emerald Envy, Dapper Denim and Flirty Flamingo.

Endless Birthday Wishes Card-1

I kept it pretty simple and just used jaunty angles for interest as well as a bit of embossing on the Emerald Envy panel (with the Decorative Dots folder – retiring May 31 – buy it in my online store for only $7.80 while stocks last).

This stamp set has loads of sentiments and you can put them together to customise your card.  I chose “it’s all about you” which is what makes this card multi-purpose.  I stamped all the sentiments in Dapper Denim ink (love it!), and watercoloured the cake with Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Soft Sky and Crushed Curry.  The dots in the background were stamped in Soft Sky and mimic the embossed dots.

Endless Birthday Wishes Card-2

If you like this colour combination, please feel free to save and share it.  You can find more inspiration on my Pinterest Colour Inspiration Board.

Tin of Cards Congrats Card for GDP029

posted in: Cards, Congratulations | 8

Over at the Global Design Project this week there’s a colour challenge, and at first glance I thought “Ok, that looks pretty easy”, but let me tell ya, it was quite a challenge!

Click on the Global Design Project image to see all the fabulous inspiration from the design team and participants.

A few days later, as often happens with me, I’ll be eating dinner, brushing my teeth, or doing something totally unrelated to crafting, and an idea will zap into my mind with no warning – yep, you know what I mean.  Anyway, I had this idea to use the three colours and weave them using strips.  But then, as also often happens, I modify my idea.  Once I laid the colours down in front of me, they took me back to the groovy sixties – you know, psychedelic pop, Austen Powers, flower power and groovy people!  YAS!  I knew what to do with them!  I cut them all into wedges of varying sizes, glued them to a piece of scrap cardstock and voila!  Instant grooviness!  I love how inspiration comes to us, don’t you?  Can’t you just see those brown and orange kitchens of the early 70s Australian kitchens?!  YUK!  Anyway, here’s my card:

And here’s the annotated view with all the products used:

Here’s a closer view of the embossed sentiment from the Tin of Cards stamp set.  I though the font was groovy enough to fit the theme of the card.

What do you think?  Groovy huh?  This wasn’t a hard or time consuming card to make.  If you like it, why not give it a go?  I’d love to see your take on it.  Feel free to share yours on my Facebook page – GaGa Papercrafts.

And here’s a snapshot of the colours I’ve used today – feel free to save this to your computer:

No Limits for GDP018

posted in: Cards, Congratulations | 6

Oh my gosh!  Where did last week go?  Another Global Design Project challenge has been and gone and I’m excited to tell you I was one of the chosen winners for GDP017 with my diamond shine card!  Woop! Woop!  Such fun!

A Sketch Challenge

This week’s challenge is a sketch:

I’ve been wanting to use the adorable little bi-plane from the free Sale-a-Bration set called Sky is the Limit and had an image in my mind of the plane flying through the circle, so that’s where I started.  I did tweak the sketch a little but I think it’s still pretty close.

Choosing Colours

I have seen the plane stamped in black, blue, grey and brown and wondered what colours they are in real life.  So I Googled bi-plane images (as you do …).  I came across this image, which inspired my little red bi-plane:

I love how the red plane and it’s white contrail stand out against the vivid blue sky.  I found my colours!  Pacific Point for the card base, Real Red for the plane and Whisper White are the colours I decided on.  Here’s my card:

No Limits-1

I stamped the plane in Real Red and used clear embossing powder to make it shine, added black to the tyres and silver to the propeller.  Although you can’t really see it in the photos, I also added some glitz to the propeller and the bottom of the clouds with the clear Wink of Stella pen.  It adds a lovely sparkle and it’s so easy to use.

No Limits-3

The “congratulations” sentiment comes from the perennial Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set.  The “Sky is the limit” sentiment and the clouds are from the Sky is the Limit stamp set.

No Limits-2

Shine Bright Like a Diamond for GDP017

posted in: Cards, Congratulations | 8

Before I share my diamond shine card with you, I’d just like to say I’ve been a little quiet of late, but there is a very good reason.  I have taken the drastic step (well to me anyway) of resigning my Stampin’ Up! demonstratorship.  “Why on Earth would you do that?!” I hear you ask.  Well, you’ll have to stick with me to find out.  Until then, all I’ll say is I’m so excited for the future!!!  I’ll be announcing my happy news in the first week of March, but I won’t be posting to my blog on a regular basis until then.

Diamond Shine Card

So, back to today’s project.  It’s a Global Design Project colour challenge.  The colours were chosen by Brian this week and they aren’t colours that I (or it seems, a lot of others) go to very often when designing a project.  They are however featured colours (along with Blushing Bride and Whisper White) in the new 2016 Occasions Catalogue suite called Love Blossoms.  This suite is gorgeous, floral and girly; designed for Valentine’s Day but also versatile enough for other projects too.

There’s lots of gorgeous projects this week from the talented Design Team and the equally talented participants, so just click on the GDP picture below to go to the page.

Inspiration and Design Process

Although it would have been natural to design a project around the Love Blossoms suite of products, I was inspired by Kylie’s card that I’d seen a couple of months ago and wanted to use one of the masks from the Happy Patterns set in the 2015-2016 Annual Catalogue.  These masks are fun and easy to use and let you create unique projects.  I decided to use the diamond pattern.  Maybe subconsciously I associated diamonds with love!

Diamond Shine Card

So after I’d sponged the background using the three challenge colours I flipped through the OC trying to decide what sentiment I would use.  Yep, this card was really created on the fly!  I got to the page where the Sunburst Sayings stamp set is pictured and the “Shine” sentiment popped out at me.  What a perfect complement to my diamond-background card!  So to continue the theme and tie the sentiment and background together I came up with the idea of using a diamond shape for the sentiment.  Happy day!

Diamond Shine Card

I like that this card came together organically.  The process was very satisfying and I think that, although it is very simple, it’s nonetheless “complete”.  What do you think of my diamond shine card?

Thanks for stopping by today.
