In the Meadow for WWYS #79

Hello and welcome! This week’s WWYS (What Will You Stamp?) Challenge is to use the In the Meadow stamp set. Here’s the card I made:

In the Meadow-1

I went with a cameo style using our new Layering Ovals Framelits and created a sunset scene with the tree from the In the Meadow stamp set. The sentiments from the same set got the “signpost” treatment. Below is a picture of the full set.

Crazy Crafters’ August Blog Hop with Special Guest Tami White

CCBH w Tami White

It’s time for another Crazy Crafters’ Blog Hop, and this month we are all excited to have Tami White as our special guest.  Tami has inspired and entertained legions of crafters the world over, and we are all getting to CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) one of her projects.  Woo hoo!  If you’ve been living under a rock and don’t know Tami, make sure you check out her blog by clicking on her image below.  It will take you to the post about the card I am CASEing.

Tami White

You may be starting here on my blog – Gail Davidson, or you may have come from the person previous to me – Bruno Bertucci.  To continue on the hop, click on the next person in the list – the lovely Vicki Hunter – at the end of this post to make sure you don’t miss all the other amazing Crazy Crafters’ projects and of course our fabulous special guest Tami White’s project too!

And here’s Tami’s card that inspired me:

stampin-up-picture-perfect-starfish-card

The layout of this card is what first caught my eye, with the strip of Gold Foil behind the main image, and anyone who knows me knows that I just love emboss resist.  It’s so cool, isn’t it?  And I loved the way Tami used a coloured image of the starfish to complement the white ones in the background.

I had a hard time deciding which stamp set to use because there are just so many gorgeous ones in the Annual Catalogue this year.  Oh my gosh!  But I  finally decided on the beautiful Artistically Asian set.  This is the first time I have had a play with it and I can definitely see many more cards and projects being created with this set.  Love, love, love!!

Artistically Asian Stamp Set

So here’s my card.  I wanted the focal image to shine, so I used Kraft cardstock as well as muted and natural tones so that the gorgeous bamboo image would pop.  To add to the delicacy of the style I took a deep breath and my paper snips and fussy cut the image out, but it was totally worth it (and I don’t mind a bit of fussy cutting).  What do you think?

Artistically Asian - CASEing Tami White

I love how subtle the friendship symbol looks stamped in VersaMark down the left-hand side, and the Pink Pirouette sponging adds to the delicate feel of this card too.  The sentiment was heat embossed and cropped using the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits Dies.  A sprinkling of black and clear sequins completes the project.

Jar of Love for WWYS #73

This week’s WWYS Challenge stamp set is Jar of Love.  This set is simply adorable.  Besides flowers, you can fill your jar with fireflies, goldfish, or as I chose to do, with confetti.  You could also fill them with images from other stamp sets too.  I’ve seen jars with fairies and frogs to name a couple.  This is a big set with lots of images, giving you lots of creative options.

#73 Jar of Love

And here’s the card I created:

Jar of Love-1

As you can see, my design is totally inspired by the sentiment.  I’ve used some washi tape from the Pop of Pink and Affectionately Yours packs along the bottom of the panel.  I’ve also used the new Layering Circles Framelits set for the sentiment.  A little bit of copper heat-embossing adds some pizzazz and we’re done!  A simple, quick and fun card.  🙂

Head on over to the What Will You Stamp blog to see what our other talented designers have created with this stamp set.  And why not enter your own design?  You could be chosen as our winner and get to be a guest stamper!  How exciting!

Birthday Blooms Dear Friend Card for GDP028

posted in: Cards, Friend | 25

Team_Project_Highlight_Banner Today’s post is a special one because I’m so excited to be casing a fellow Aussie demo – Jess Williams – in this week’s GDP challenge AND the lovely Kylie Bertucci is highlighting some of the Crazy Crafters’ projects on her blog tonight (7.00pm Queensland time) including this one!  Woo hoo!!  So you can click on the GDP image below to view all the amazing and inspirational projects over there, and be sure to check out Kylie’s blog to see the awesome Crazy Crafters’ projects and vote for your 3 top faves by clicking on the banner at the top of this post.  I hope mine will be one of your faves! GDP028 I took inspiration from Jess’s card and included a soft and pretty floral image as well as embellishing with a trim.

Birthday_Blooms_Dear_Friend_Card-1 You can never have too many friend cards on hand ready to pop in the post and this one is so sweet. It uses an image and sentiment from one of my favourite Occasions Catalogue sets (of which I have many!), the Birthday Blooms stamp set.  The images are absolutely gorgeous and just beg to be watercoloured (so I did!).  But the sentiments in this set are also soooooo pretty with their curly font style.

Birthday_Blooms_Stamp_Set
Birthday Blooms Stamp Set © Stampin’ Up!®

I started by making a mask from the Decorative Label punch for the sentiment and then embossed the images using clear embossing powder.  Because the watercolour paper I used is not a bright white, I didn’t want the image outlines to look harsh.  I used Blushing Bride and Rose Red for the petals and Wild Wasabi and Pear Pizzazz for the leaves.  A dash of Daffodil Delight in the centre of the main image looks so pretty!  I then took the negative of the mask and sponged inside with Crumb Cake so the sentiment would stand out on the card.  It wasn’t quite defined enough so I traced around the edge with a Crumb Cake marker. I think these colours are perfect for soft and pretty watercoloured blooms.  Feel free to download and save this image.

Birthday_Blooms_Dear_Friend_Card-2 A few of the dotted image from this stamp set stamped in Crumb Cake and some of the clear sequins from the Metallics sequins pack sprinkled around filled in the white space nicely.  The finishing touch was some Very Vanilla thick baker’s twine wrapped around the panel before it was adhered to a Rose Red base. Before I go – just a reminder:  Don’t forget time’s running out to get Sale-a-Bration FREEBIES!  Get one FREE with every AU$90 you spend!   This promotion finishes on March 31 – that’s 6 days away!  Click on the Shop Now button in the sidebar and don’t forget to use the Hostess Code at the top of this page to receive an extra gift from me!  Happy shopping!Sale-a-Bration_Freebies I hope you like today’s project.  Leave me a comment below – I’d love to hear from you!  Thanks for stopping by. Striped Hello for GDP020

posted in: Cards, Friend | 16

Inspiration

I have a super fun striped hello card for you today.  Inspiration comes from the Global Design Project Case the Designer Challenge and this week we are casing Connie Collins!  I loved Connie’s bold black stripes and decided to include that element in my card.  I also took inspiration from Danielle Flanders who made a card back in September using the split sentiment technique I’ve used here.  Here’s  Connie’s card:

GDP020And here’s my card:

Striped Hello

2016 Occasions Catalogue and Sale-a-Bration Brochure

It uses the Hello Stamp Set from the Sale-a-Bration Brochure, only available until February 15th.  The flowers were cut from Tangelo Twist and Melon Mambo cardstock using the Blooming’ Heart Thinlits Dies, and for the little leaves I used one of the dies from the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies and cut three from Wild Wasabi.  Some Rhinestone Basic Jewels and the new two-tone Basic Black/Melon Mambo Baker’s Twine finishes it off.

Striped Hello

The sentiment was created by stamping in Versamark ink on Basic Black cardstock then embossing in white before cutting sections out of the Basic Black cardstock.  The sentiment was stamped again in Basic Black Archival ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Of course I had to decorate the inside:

Striped Hello

The flowers come from the Botanical Blooms Stamp Set.  I just adore all these new products in the 2016 Occasions Catalogue and Sale-a-Bration Brochure, don’t you?  I can’t wait to share some more projects with you, so stay tuned!

I hope you’ve enjoyed sharing my card today.  I love to read your comments, so if you have the time, let me know what you think.

Why not have a look at what the Design Team have come up with and join in the fun over at the Global Design Challenge.  Just click on the GDP image above to go there.

WDW #3 – Whole Lot of Lovely Card Using 2014-2016 In-Colour Markers

I had so much fun making today’s Weekly Deals Wednesday card.  It uses all the 2014-2016 In-Colour Stampin’ Write Markers as well as the Silver 5/8″ Satin Ribbon, two of the items on offer this week at a discount.  You can see them all here.

WDW3-1

I took the markers and basically doodled down the side of a panel of Shimmery White Cardstock, added the silver ribbon and accented it with strips of Basic Black and Tangelo Twist Cardstock.

WDW3-2

For the focal image, I chose the beautiful sentiment from the Hostess set A Whole Lot of Lovely.  I love this set with its tiny little flowers.  Heat embossed in silver and layered with some silver metallic thread loops sandwiched in between, I finished it off with some more colouring with the markers.  What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by today.

XOXO Gail
