Sealed With Love for WWYS #101

Hello and welcome to this week’s WWYS Challenge. This week’s stamp set is Sealed With Love, a great one for Valentine’s cards, but it can just as easily be used for cards like the one I’ve made to send to family and friends to let them know you love them.

On a Shimmery White card base I’ve added another panel (also Shimmery White) onto which I clear embossed the sentiment and then ink blended Real Red, Melon Mambo and Watermelon Wonder. I then die cut the panel using the hearts border die from the Love Notes Framelits Dies. I die cut the border again from a piece with tiny strings of hearts from the Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack so that it fitted perfectly under the main panel. I adhered the two pieces to another piece of Whisper White cardstock and adhered the whole panel to the card base with Foam Adhesive Strips.

Tip: When adding composite pieces to a panel it is better to make it a little larger than the card base and then cut it down to the desired size. This allows you leeway with regard to the border around the panel and the relative size of each element (in this case the depth of the DSP piece. It also allows you to trim away the edges of an ink blended piece which are usually much darker than the rest of the piece that can make the finished card look “untidy”.

I decided it needed something more, so I flicked some water off an acrylic block with a paintbrush until I was happy with the look, dabbing the excess water off with a paper towel.

The finishing touches were Wink of Stella added to the die cut hearts and a few silver metallic hearts.

I also added a strip of the Designer Series Paper to the inside of the card.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. If you’ve left me a comment, thank you! You’ve made my day. Be sure to hop on over to the WWYS blog to see what everyone else has made and enter your own project. You could be our next guest designer!

Sunshine Sayings for WWYS #99

Hello and welcome to our WWYS Challenge for this week! I have to confess I haven’t used the Sunshine Sayings set as much as a should have, but I had so much fun making this card, I think I’ll be using it more in future!  I wanted to keep it simple – well as simple as it can be for me! – and I had the design kinda mapped out in my head. But I have a confession to make – I actually meant to make a portrait card not a landscape version as you see here. Any guesses as to what happened? Well, after die cutting the flower I happened to flip my card over and I had already stamped my signature stamp on the back in, you guessed it, landscape! It was one of those self-deprecating moments – not pretty! But that’s the thing with cardmaking – it doesn’t matter; you can always make it work! I love that!!! So I just stamped and adhered my sentiment sideways too! 🙂

I did a bit of shading behind the flower and applied some Wink of Stella and it looks gorgeous in real life.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. If you’ve left me a comment, thank you! You’ve made my day. Be sure to hop on over to the WWYS blog to see what everyone else has made and enter your own project. You could be our next guest designer!

International Project Highlights – Love Theme

Welcome to our International Visual Blog Hop using current Stampin’ Up!® Products. We have all created this gallery of projects for you to be inspired by! We would love it if you could visit every one of our blogs and see a close up of our projects. Our theme this month is LOVE because as card makers we love spreading the love. You can see the gallery below and this will be on every blog that you click on so you will never be lost.

How many ways are there to say “I love you”? Well, there are lots, as you’ll see in the gallery below. Click on the images to go to each blog. You won’t want to miss any!

My CAS card uses the Crazy About You Stamp Set and two die sets – the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies from the Annual Catalogue and a brand new one I know you’re gonna love from the upcoming 2017 Occasions Catalogue, called Love Notes Framelits Dies.

By the way, if you don’t already have the Occasions Catalogue, you can order yours here. It starts on 4 January 2017 and I’ll be sending them out from December 1.

Back to my card. I die cut the heart and arrow from the Love Notes dies and the “love” from the Sunshine Wishes dies. I cut the arrow in half and adhered it to look as though it is piercing the heart and added a gold foil tip. The sentiment was layered up (5 layers) to add dimension, and both the heart and sentiment were slathered with my fine-tip glue to give a glossy finish. I also white heat embossed the “you” from the Crazy About You set onto Basic Black cardstock and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

This was a really fun card to make. If you like it, please make my day and leave a comment and let me know. The Love Notes Framelits Dies will be available from 4 January 2017, but if you want them earlier you can join my team and get them on December 1st! You can purchase the other supplies I used by clicking here or on the Shop button at the end of this post and entering the current Host Code – SVTUHTJ2 – when you get to the checkout page.

Thanks for visiting my blog today, there are so many amazing ideas and inspiration you don’t want to miss. We know that you will love our gallery of projects made from Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators around the world!

Going Global Card for WWYS Challenge #63

It’s Monday, and that means it’s WWYS Challenge time!  This week we’re using the Going Global Stamp Set.  Click on the image below to see all the great inspiration from the design team and to join in the fun!

#63 Going GlobalDo you ever look at a stamp set and think “I don’t know where to start”?  That’s what happened to me with this one.  Maybe it’s because all the cards I’ve seen that use this set use muted or masculine colours.  I wanted to do something different, so I started with the idea of doing a twilight sky …

Going Global Card-1

By the time I’d finished I had used seven, yes SEVEN different ink colours!  Well, it is my first attempt at a scene with this much sponging, so I just kept adding and blending.  Lol!  I used Shimmery White cardstock as it’s better to sponge on and won’t pill like normal Whisper White cardstock.

To add detail to the scene I used my Basic Black and Basic Grey markers to draw some grass, and some white Stazon ink to add stars using a paint brush and flicking (messy but effective).

I white heat embossed the constellation image onto the background, and the sentiment (which I love!) onto a scrap of Basic Black cardstock, then punched it out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch.  I punched another circle in Sweet Sugarplum cardstock (a luscious colour from the new In Colours coming out in the new Catalogue), and offset layered it under the black circle using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  This panel was then adhered to a thick Whisper White base using more dimensionals.

If you like this colour combination, please feel free to save and share it.  You can find more inspiration on my Pinterest Colour Inspiration Board.

Floral Wings

KBs Int SU Blog HighlightToday I’m joining my fellow Crazy Crafters for an International Stampin’ Up! Blog Highlight.  How exciting!  And you get to vote for your fave three!  The theme is love.

Here’s my card, which uses the gorgeous Hostess stamp set called Floral Wings.

I couldn’t resist embossing the butterfly in gold.  Doesn’t it look lush?!  And while it may look fussy to stamp, it really isn’t:  the flowers are all on one image, as are the leaves, and as they are photopolymer stamps, it’s easy to align them.  Love that!

Floral Wings Stamp Set (Hostess) by Stampin’ Up!®

This project uses only one stamp set too, so it’s a great card to produce in multiples.  I did do a watercolour wash background in Blushing Bride and Soft Sky, but you could skip that too if you wanted.

I thought this butterfly deserved to be treated like the star it is, so I partial die cut it using the Bold Butterfly framelits to pop its wings up.  Seeing the red layer underneath makes it shine even more.

I used the same image that’s on the butterfly to stamp a trail of Blushing Bride and Real Red roses below the butterfly, and I used the single rose image from this set to stamp and heat emboss the rose on the sentiment banner, also heat embossed and punched out with the Word Window punch.
