Rainbow Card Using Labeler Alphabet Stamp Set for WWYS #87

Hello and welcome to this week’s WWYS Challenge using the Labeler Alphabet Stamp Set. I have to admit, I avoided using this set because there are 101 (yep! 101) stamps in this set and the thought of losing one of those little buggers kinda freaked me out! But I was very careful to put each one back in the case after I’d used it, so it’s all good. ūüôā

Here’s the stamp set pic:

I started with the idea of using an inspirational phrase for this card so browsed Google and found the words you see on the front of the card. So then the rainbow became the focal point. This was made simply using the Layering Circles Framelits Dies in “a rainbow” of cardstock colours. The words were stamped on three of the these¬†colours to tie in with the rebus image. I added some Wink of Stella to the Smoky Slate raindrops from the Weather Together Stamp Set. It was a very simple card to put together but I think you’ll agree it packs a punch. Let me know what you think by leaving me a comment.

Crazy Crafters’ Blog Hop with Special Guest Bibi Cameron

Welcome to the Crazy Crafters’ Blog Hop with special guest Bibi Cameron. Bibi hails from Columbia but now¬†lives in¬†Scotland. She is a Design Team member for the Global Design Project Challenge blog and the TGIF Challenge blog. Her style is bold, bright and fun, and she has a legion of fans worldwide. You can check out Bibi’s blog by clicking on her picture.

We are each CASEing (Copying and Selectively Editing) one of Bibi’s designs today. It was a hard decision to make as she has so many gorgeous projects on her blog, but this one caught my eye:

picture-perfect-stampin-up-huminngbirds-3

I love the look of watercoloured cards, and despite being a novice at it, I’ve been itching to try out a new stamp set from the Holiday Catalogue that is perfect for this technique – the Merry Mice Stamp Set. I liked Bibi’s use of a neutral coloured card base, the random splatters of ink over the background, and the way the twine is held in place by the little notches, so my card has similar elements too.

merry-mice-1

My card base is Kraft cardstock and my splatters are made by flicking the tip of my gold Wink of Stella glitter brush. In retrospect, I probably should have chosen a different colour for this little guy’s jumper as it’s a bit too close to the green leaves of the branch. But I’m sure I’ll be colouring him again – he is SO CUTE!!!

To continue along the hop, select the person next on the list after me, Gail Davidson, to see all the marvellous creations from Bibi and the rest of the Crazy Crafters. But before you go, if you like my design, I’d love it if you could take the time to leave a comment to let me know!

Peachy Thank You Card for GDP058

It seems like ages since I’ve joined the Global Design Project Challenge and I really like the sketch for this week.

gdp058

My card for the challenge¬†highlights the gorgeous Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper. Don’t forget you can get it free this month with the Buy 3 Get 1 Free DSP offer.

peachy-thank-you-card-1

I’ve used the co-ordinating Fresh Fruit Stamp Set for the sentiment and the outline around the peach. The peach was simply fussy cut from the DSP. So easy!

TIP: If your DSP has horizontal or vertical lines and you want diagonal ones – no problem. Just cut the paper on the diagonal as I’ve done here.¬†

The scalloped detail on the focal piece was achieved using the top of the Best Badge punch.

peachy-thank-you-card-2

I’ve finished the inside off simply with a 1cm strip of the striped DSP.

International Project Highlights – Engagement Card

iph Welcome to our International Project Highlights visual blog hop using current Stampin’ Up!¬ģ Products. We have all created this gallery of projects for you to be inspired by! We would love it if you could visit every one of our blogs and see a close up of our projects. You can see the gallery below and this will be on every blog that you click on so you will never be lost.

international-project-highlights-1 I needed to make an engagement card and took inspiration from the amazingly talented Teneale Williams for this one. It has a simple, elegant feel, using Elegant Eggplant for the card base with silver accents. The focal point is the stacked heart. The top layer is Silver Glimmer paper but the layers underneath are cut from Whisper White and SMOTHERED in silver glitter on the edges. I love the 3D effect this technique gives.

international-project-highlights-2 I also kept the inside simple with a strip of Silver Glimmer and a row of¬†hearts underneath the sentiment. Both sentiments were stamped with Elegant Eggplant and clear embossed. Thanks for visiting my blog today, there are so many amazing ideas and inspiration you don’t want to miss. We know that you will love our gallery of projects made by¬†Stampin’ Up!¬ģ Demonstrators around the world!

Cookie Cutter Halloween for WWYS #86

This week at What Will You Stamp? we’re playing with the Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set. I’ve used the cute “cookie mummy” to make a get well card. When you’re sick, things seem to be out of kilter, so I carried that theme through when I designed this card. The panels are skewed and oddly shaped, and the focal image is at an angle too.

cookie-cutter-halloween

I’ve paired the cute image with the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper.

TIP: To add interest, try cutting a paper panel into an unusual shape – I’ve used a rhombus shape here for¬†the black panel.

The sentiments come from the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set. Here’s all the images in the Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set:

86-cookie-cutter-halloween ¬† And here’s the inside of my card:

cookie-cutter-halloween-1

Those little hearts come from the Owl Builder Punch – so cute!

TIP: I love to emboss my sentiments. Did you know you can use any colour ink with clear embossing powder to give a shiny, raised look?

Ghoulish Grunge for WWYS #84

Who says you have to use a “Halloween” stamp set to make a Halloween card? My card for this week’s What Will You Stamp? Challenge shows¬†a totally different way to use¬†this raggedy netting image from the Ghoulish Grunge set, and it’s far from scary! It’s bright and colourful and looks very delicate when stamped in rainbow colours.

ghoulish-grunge-1

Here’s a visual of all the images in the stamp set. If you’d like to join in the fun and submit your own card using the Ghoulish Grunge Stamp set, just click on the image to go to the WWYS Challenge Blog. And you can check out the inspiration from the other Design Team members too! We’d love it if you could join us.

Sometimes if I have cut a strip of cardstock from an A4 sheet for another project, but the piece that is left is a little narrower or wider than my usual card base size of 14.9cm (if cut widthways) or 10.5cm (if cut lengthways), I will just use the whole piece rather than waste it. So this card is a smidgen wider than I would normally make. If it doesn’t fit into a standard envelope – hey, I’ll make my own with the Envelope Punch Board and some pretty Envelope Paper! So here are the exact measurements. Notice too, that I’ve attached the front panel so that it’s flush with the bottom for something a little bit different. I did start with a larger piece and cut it down a little; I like to do that when I’m not sure how the images will fit. So here are the measurements for you:

table

When I started to make this card, I really had no fixed concept of how it should look, but it was fun seeing what I could come up with. I used the rock ‘n’ roll technique to add some dimension to the netting image by inking the sides with a darker shade of ink, and I also used the kissing technique with¬†the flourish image from the First Sight Stamp Set. This is also where the sentiment comes from. I decided that a straight strip of the washi tape (from the Pop Of Pink suite) didn’t suit the style of this card, so I tore the piece in half lengthways and placed them with the (outside) straight edges together. A little linen thread wrapped around a few times finished it off nicely. I was happy with the end result. What do you think?

Sweet Home for WWYS #83

Hello and welcome to another WWYS Challenge! This week the stamp set we’re highlighting is Sweet Home. You can buy this set with framelits as a bundle and create 3D houses, however¬†I’ve paired the cute little house with some images from Thoughtful Branches (which is still available to purchase) to create this adorable little ‘home in the forest’ scene.

sweet-home-1

I love that this house can be a spooky Halloween house, a gingerbread house, or a cute little country house, 3D or 2D – so versatile! I’ve used the “thumping” technique to achieve the mottled effect on the tree foliage. And the adorable little curtain is a piece of one of our delicate doilies. I’ve also added some washi from the Affectionately Yours suite along the bottom of the card.

Here’s a pic of all the images in this stamp set. To see the stunning designs from the rest of the Design Team and to submit your own card using the Sweet Home stamp set, click on the image below to hop on over to the What Will You Stamp?
