Crazy Crafters’ Blog Hop with Georgia Giguere

Welcome to the Crazy Crafters’ Blog Hop with special guest Georgia Giguere. Georgia lives in the United States and has been a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator for 15 years. She was ranked number 63 in the Global Top 100 Demonstrators this year! Congratulations Georgia!! Our team is very excited to be hopping with her today. You can check out Georgia’s blog by clicking on her picture.

We are each CASEing (Copying and Selectively Editing) one of Georgia’s designs today. As I was browsing her blog, I had a really difficult time choosing which one to CASE – there were so many gorgeous cards! After a loooong time, I finally decided on the card below. I loved how simple but beautiful this card was. Having said that, I got a bit carried away with my design and added quite a few more elements but I was pleased with the result.

Here’s my card:

I’ve used images from three stamp sets. I told you I got carried away! The pine trees in the background and the little branch with the pine cone on the foreground trees are from the Lovely as a Tree Stamp Set. I’ve used two images from the Bloomin’ Love Stamp Set to make the silhouetted “undergrowth” at the bottom. The sentiment comes from the Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set.

I also used a fair few colours: Old Olive and Always Artichoke for the grass, Garden Green and Early Espresso for the background trees, So Saffron, Blushing Bride and Soft Sky for the sunrise sky, Soft Suede for the pinecones, and Basic Grey for the undergrowth foliage and shading on the trees in the foreground. I also used a combination of Tip Top Taupe and Early Espresso to “fill in” the notches on the trees. The green hue on a couple of the trees was caused by ink from the stamped trees seeping into the debossed areas when it went through the Big Shot. A happy accident I think – I actually like the effect. It looks like lichen is growing on the tree trunks. What do you think? I added a touch of Cherry Cobbler to the berries on the undergrowth plants as well.

The card base is thick Whisper White, the layer and banner are Soft Sky and the front panel is Whisper White. I stamped the sentiment in Tip Top Taupe and clear heat embossed it, then created a banner end using the Triple Banner Punch and adhered it with dimensionals.

TIP: Use extra adhesive when adding panels that warp due to embossing. I like to use Fast Fuse or Tear and Tape for an extra strong hold.

To continue along the hop, select the person next on the list after me, Gail Davidson, to see all the gorgeous creations from Georgia and the rest of the Crazy Crafters.

Thanks for visiting my blog today. If you’ve left me a comment, thank you! You’ve made my day.

Heartfelt Sympathy Card for WWYS Challenge #61

I’m uber excited about today’s post.  It’s my very first post as a Design Team member for WWYS (What Will You Stamp?) Challenge blog.  Woohoo!!!

wwys_header_2015a_zpsd937a48eI was doing a happy dance when I got the email inviting me to join this talented group.  If you had told me I’d be doing this only a couple of short months ago, I would have died laughing, but here I am!  Much credit is due to my awesome upline Kylie Bertucci, a fabulous mentor and such a kind and generous person.  Thank you Kylie!

The WWYS Challenge blog highlights a different Stampin’ Up! stamp set each week.  Click on the image below to see the fabulous creations from all around the world.  Hopefully, you will also be inspired to join in the fun!  I’d love to see you there!

#61 Heartfelt Sympathy

This week’s stamp set is Heartfelt Sympathy.  I started by choosing the colours first, and decided on a cut away card front with calla lilies (from the Remarkable You stamp set), so my card is almost 6″ x 6″ (Australian cardstock is A4 or 1/2″ shorter than US size).

Heartfelt Sympathy Card-1

I die cut the sentiment using the Ovals Collection set, and cut a larger one in So Saffron.  The Crumb Cake strip was also cut with the larger of the ovals dies so it would fit snugly on either side of the sentiment panel.

Heartfelt Sympathy Card-2

I trimmed 1 1/2″ from the card front, masked off along this line on the inside and stamped the floral images.  I used Crumb Cake (stamped off twice), and then watercoloured with So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz inks.  The stamens were highlighted with Gold Wink of Stella.  The 1cm strip of Pear Pizzazz cardstock was added later to cover up an oopsie (yes, we all have them!); I accidentally stamped a stem over the top of a flower, so used this strip to cover it up.  There are no mistakes in stamping, only creative opportunities!

Heartfelt Sympathy Card-3

I coloured the tiny leaves around the sentiment in Pear Pizzazz, and added some pearls to some of the berries.  The white sentiment panel was offset on the So Saffron oval to add more interest.  Final touches included paper-piercing on the Crumb Cake and Pear Pizzazz strips using the Updated Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and light sponging around both ovals with Pear Pizzazz.

Just a reminder about the huge discounts on retiring products and clearance rack items.  These are selling out fast, so if there’s something you’ve been thinking about getting, don’t hang around!  Click on the banners below to go to my online store.  Remember to use the current Host Code WX2DTC43 at checkout to receive a thank you gift from me if your order is under $250.

Rose Wonder Sympathy Card for GDP032

posted in: Cards, Sympathy | 12

This week there’s a Case the Designer Challenge over at Global Design Project.  And this time we’re casing the lovely Krista Frattin.  To soak up all the fabulous inspiration this week, click on the image below to go the Global Design Project page.

Krista’s style in soft and CAS, so I’ve taken that on board in my design for this challenge.  I also liked the simple pink and white that Krista chose for her card, so I’ve kept that too, as well as the stripes.

I started with a Whisper White card base and a layer of Pink Pirouette.  From some scraps of both colours I punched rows of hearts using the Hearts Border punch, keeping some of the punch-outs to use as embellishments.  The focal element is a flower fussy cut from the gorgeous Birthday Bouquet DSP.  I cut two extra flowers and layered them to give the flower dimension.

The sentiment is from the Rose Wonder stamp set, stamped in Basic Grey Archival ink.  I wanted the hearts to be elevated to give it a bit more interest, so everything was adhered with dimensionals.

If you like this sweet and simple colour scheme, please feel free to download and share the colour snapshot below.  You’ll find more colour inspiration on my Pinterest Colour Inspiration Board.
