Mediterranean Moments for GDP #063

When I saw the adventure theme for this week’s Global Design Project Challenge I just knew I had to try out the brand new stamp set Mediterranean Moments from the upcoming 2017 Occasions Catalogue. It reminded me of my trip to Greece many years ago. Ah, memories! Head over to the Global Design Project blog to see all the amazing designs. Here’s the challenge image:

I’ve also been wanting to try out a pop-up card for some time, and the images in this set lend themselves well to this technique. I had a ball watercolouring them all!

OMGosh this stamp set is gorgeous! If you join up you will be able to order this set from December 1, one month earlier than it’s public release date! Click here to join up today. To request a copy of the Occasions Catalogue, click here.

Here’s the inside of the card when you open it up – cool, huh?

And here’s all the little images:

Peachy Thank You Card for GDP058

It seems like ages since I’ve joined the Global Design Project Challenge and I really like the sketch for this week.

My card for the challenge highlights the gorgeous Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper. Don’t forget you can get it free this month with the Buy 3 Get 1 Free DSP offer.

I’ve used the co-ordinating Fresh Fruit Stamp Set for the sentiment and the outline around the peach. The peach was simply fussy cut from the DSP. So easy!

TIP: If your DSP has horizontal or vertical lines and you want diagonal ones – no problem. Just cut the paper on the diagonal as I’ve done here.

The scalloped detail on the focal piece was achieved using the top of the Best Badge punch.

I’ve finished the inside off simply with a 1cm strip of the striped DSP.

If you like this colour combination, please feel free to save and share it.  You can find more inspiration on my Pinterest Colour Inspiration Board.

Sunshine Wishes Card for GDP045

I’m very excited about this week’s GDP Challenge.  It seems like forever since I’ve played along.  And this week is a really special one, as the Design Team are giving players a chance to be a guest designer for their next colour challenge.  Woot! Woot!

I’ve been wanting to do a camouflaged die cut card since I saw a video by Laura Bassen using this technique, so this was the perfect opportunity.  Using the brand new Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, I chose the congrats sentiment and the loosey-goosey flower.  Here’s what I came up with:

Sunshine Wishes Congrats Card-1

The banner sentiment is from Crazy About You stamp set, and I’ve just added some of the new Metallic Enamel Shapes to finish it off.

Here’s a close-up of the sentiment.  I love this technique – it’s a clever way to add interest without cluttering the card.

Sunshine Wishes Congrats Card-2

Just a note about the new Big Shot Platform with Thin Die Adapter.  If you haven’t tried this yet, you have to!  The difference it makes to die-cutting is enormous.  It just cuts like butter!  I’ve included it in the supply list below.  Thanks for stopping by today.

If you live in Australia and you are looking for a demonstrator to purchase from or join up with I would love to look after you.

Good Things Card for GDP034

I was inspired to create a card for the Global Design Challenge this week by the lovely sketch designed by Teneale Williams.

This sketch presented the perfect opportunity (like I needed one!) to break open my brand new Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  It’s really just so divine!  I’ve used it to emboss the beautiful sentiment from the You’ve Got This Stamp Set and also the splatter image from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set.

Good Things Card-1

Over the top of this I used the narrow rectangles mask from the Happy Patterns Decorative Masks set.  Instead of watercolouring, I came up with a technique I’m going to call “water sponging”.  I wanted to simulate watercolouring but I wanted to use a mask, so I compromised and used a wet sponge to apply Melon Mambo in the centre and Blushing Bride towards the outer edge.  I think it worked quite well.  What do you think?  A scattering of enamel dots and clear sequins and I was done.
