“Enjoy” Party Favour Box for GDP009

posted in: 3D Projects, Boxes | 4

I’m so pleased to be able to share today’s project with you.  Although I love to make cards too, this (not so little) party favour box takes me back to my roots with paper crafting.  You see, the reason I actually joined as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator was because I am also a soap maker and I wanted the product discount so that I could make my own soap boxes!  But of course I fell in love with SU – the company, the products, the paper crafting community and the creativity, so although I still do make soaps, SU has become my main focus.

Anyway, on with today’s project.  Here’s the banner for the GDP009 colour challenge.  Click on the image to check out the designers’ inspiration and all the entries into this week’s challenge.

GDP009

For this challenge I wanted to do a 3D project.  So I started with a Google image of a similar box and set to with pencil and paper and designed this cute favour box.  I used the colours for this week’s GDP challenge in the build – Tip Top Taupe, Mint Macaron and Watermelon Wonder.

I’m really pleased with the way it turned out and I intend to produce a video http://www.health-canada-pharmacy.com tutorial for those that are interested.  At the moment I’m still setting up my video gear but promise I’ll get to it ASAP, so check back to see that (subscribe if you don’t want to miss it).

The box uses an A4 sheet of cardstock.  The final dimensions are 4″ W x 2½” H (to top of DSP panel) x 2″ D.  Total height of the box is 3½”.  I wanted to keep it simply decorated, so I just used some DSP from the Pretty Petals DSP Stack, the “enjoy” die from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits set, some Dotted Lace to close the box, and three tiny pearls for a little elegance.  The handle shape was formed by partial die cutting using the 5th smallest oval die from the Ovals Collection set, and the handle opening was cut with one of the dies from the Baker’s Box Thinlits set.  For the side slots I used my die tool and hammer.

I have included a diagram of the box layout in lieu of a video until I get to record one.  I hope you like my project today and thanks for stopping by.
