Good Things Card for GDP034

I was inspired to create a card for the Global Design Challenge this week by the lovely sketch designed by Teneale Williams.

This sketch presented the perfect opportunity (like I needed one!) to break open my brand new Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  It’s really just so divine!  I’ve used it to emboss the beautiful sentiment from the You’ve Got This Stamp Set and also the splatter image from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set.

Over the top of this I used the narrow rectangles mask from the Happy Patterns Decorative Masks set.  Instead of watercolouring, I came up with a technique I’m going to call “water sponging”.  I wanted to simulate watercolouring but I wanted to use a mask, so I compromised and used a wet sponge to apply Melon Mambo in the centre and Blushing Bride towards the outer edge.  I think it worked quite well.  What do you think?  A scattering of enamel dots and clear sequins and I was done.

I think water sponging is definitely a thing. Well done, you’ve done so well. Make sure you pin your project to the official Global Design Project Pinterest Board. Thank you so much for playing along with this week’s Global Design Project challenge xx

I love the subtlety of your masked background Gail, it works so well with the sketch. I am in mourning knowing these fabulous masks are leaving us. The Copper embossing is divine! Thanks for playing at Global Design Project with us.
