Heartfelt Sympathy Card for WWYS Challenge #61

I’m uber excited about today’s post.  It’s my very first post as a Design Team member for WWYS (What Will You Stamp?) Challenge blog.  Woohoo!!!

wwys_header_2015a_zpsd937a48eI was doing a happy dance when I got the email inviting me to join this talented group.  If you had told me I’d be doing this only a couple of short months ago, I would have died laughing, but here I am!  Much credit is due to my awesome upline Kylie Bertucci, a fabulous mentor and such a kind and generous person.  Thank you Kylie!

#61 Heartfelt Sympathy

This week’s stamp set is Heartfelt Sympathy.  I started by choosing the colours first, and decided on a cut away card front with calla lilies (from the Remarkable You stamp set), so my card is almost 6″ x 6″ (Australian cardstock is A4 or 1/2″ shorter than US size).

I die cut the sentiment using the Ovals Collection set, and cut a larger one in So Saffron.  The Crumb Cake strip was also cut with the larger of the ovals dies so it would fit snugly on either side of the sentiment panel.


Heartfelt Sympathy Card-2

I trimmed 1 1/2″ from the card front, masked off along this line on the inside and stamped the floral images.  I used Crumb Cake (stamped off twice), and then watercoloured with So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz inks.  The stamens were highlighted with Gold Wink of Stella.  The 1cm strip of Pear Pizzazz cardstock was added later to cover up an oopsie (yes, we all have them!); I accidentally stamped a stem over the top of a flower, so used this strip to cover it up.  There are no mistakes in stamping, only creative opportunities!


Heartfelt Sympathy Card-3

I coloured the tiny leaves around the sentiment in Pear Pizzazz, and added some pearls to some of the berries.  The white sentiment panel was offset on the So Saffron oval to add more interest.  Final touches included paper-piercing on the Crumb Cake and Pear Pizzazz strips using the Updated Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and light sponging around both ovals with Pear Pizzazz.
