White Wedding for GDP019

posted in: Cards, Wedding | 8

Oooh, this week is a theme challenge over at the Global Design Project and the theme is LOVE! I have been itching to do a white on white card for ages now, and so this is the perfect time to showcase this beauty.

Here is the image link to the GDP challenge, so hop on over and see what the Design Team have come up with, and maybe enter your own project too!

Lots of Tools

I used lots of tools and products for this card.  With a definite picture in my mind of how I wanted this gorgeous card to look, I went about using the tools (and lots of them!) and products that would give me the result I was after.

Focal Image

For the focal image, I used the heart framelit from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits set and ran it through the Big Shot twice to emboss the image, moving it so that it overlapped slightly on the second pass.

I then took the Simply Scored and placed the diagonal plate on top and scored the “background”, being careful not to go through the embossed hearts.  To make the hearts stand out I outlined them with the smallest of the Basic Pearls and used the medium pearls in the centre of each place where the scored lines intersected.

Stitching – Yes please!

Part of my vision for this card definitely included some stitching (embroidery is one of my other “loves”).  I did some trial stitching using a variety of threads and stitches, but finally settled on feather stitch using silver metallic thread.  I know, I know, it’s not white, but the white thread just didn’t work.  I pierced the holes using the Updated Essentials paper piercing pack so that my stitching would be perfectly aligned with the edge of the cardstock.

Night-time Epiphanies and the Alphabet Rotary Stamp

I was reading a blog the other day and the blogger was talking about getting ideas for cards at night just as they’re going to sleep.  It made me chuckle at the time because I could totally relate to what they were saying, having only just had the same experience a couple of nights before.  That was when I came up with the sentiment for this card!  Spooky, huh?  Soooooo, Stampin’ Up! doesn’t have a sentiment that says “Two hearts, one love”, buuuuuuut – they do have the Alphabet Rotary Stamp!  I absolutely love this stamp and use it all the time for exactly this kind of situation.  Brilliant!

2016 Occasions Catalogue Products

Up to this point, all the tools and products I had used came from the 2015-2016 Annual Catalogue.  I could have used several of the framelits in the AC to crop my sentiment, but I was taken with the cute frame stamp and matching framelit from the Rose Garden bundle in the OC.  My bespoke sentiment fit perfectly into the frame from the Rose Wonder stamp set.  They were both stamped in Smoky Slate as I wanted to keep the card as neutral as possible and this colour matched the silver metallic thread really well.  The sentiment was then cropped using the matching frame die from the Rose Garden Thinlits die set and finished off with a couple more of the medium pearls.

When it came to decorating the inside of the card, I used the gorgeous little heart image from the Blooming’ Love stamp set, also from the new 2016 Occasions Catalogue.

I hope you like my white wedding card.  Although it isn’t a 5-minute card, I think you’ll agree that it was well worth the extra time and trouble fun it took to make it!  Oh, and I did warn you I used a lot of tools.  But then, that’s what they’re for, isn’t it?!

If you have the time, I’d love it if you would leave a comment and let me know what you think.  Thanks for stopping by today.
