Endless Birthday Wishes Card for WWYS Challenge #65

I love a card that can be used for more than one occasion, and my card for this week’s WWYS Challenge, featuring the Endless Birthday Wishes Stamp Set fits the bill!  Yes, it does have a cake on it, but who’s to say it’s not a congratulations cake or a celebration cake for another special occasion?  Anyhow, you can see what the other Design Team members have created by clicking on the WWYS image below.  Want to join us and have a little fun?  You have until Sunday, May 22 at 10am to submit your entry.

#65 Endless Birthday Wishes

I decided to break out a few of the new In Colours for this week’s card – Emerald Envy, Dapper Denim and Flirty Flamingo.

Endless Birthday Wishes Card-1

I kept it pretty simple and just used jaunty angles for interest as well as a bit of embossing on the Emerald Envy panel (with the Decorative Dots folder – retiring May 31 – buy it in my online store for only $7.80 while stocks last).

This stamp set has loads of sentiments and you can put them together to customise your card.  I chose “it’s all about you” which is what makes this card multi-purpose.  I stamped all the sentiments in Dapper Denim ink (love it!), and watercoloured the cake with Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Soft Sky and Crushed Curry.  The dots in the background http://laparkan.com/buy-tadalafil/ were stamped in Soft Sky and mimic the embossed dots.

Botanical Builder Gift Set for GDP033

posted in: 3D Projects, Birthday, Boxes, Cards | 10

I love making boxes, and when it’s an unusual one and comes with a matching card, even better!  I took up the challenge for this week’s Global Design Challenge.  I really like colour challenges and this one is lovely because it has some of my favourite colours!  Click on the image below to see what the design team has come up with and all the inspirational projects that have been entered.

My inspiration for this box comes from Jessica Winter’s Diamond Box.  Jessica is an Artisan design team member.  To see her post, click on the image below.

Jessica Winter Diamond Box

I’ve adapted Jessica’s design to make a tall box, and I’ve included a co-ordinating card to go with it.

Botanical Builder Gift Set-1

I used the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies, and really went to town!  It is a bit OTT but I was having so much fun!  What do you think?

Botanical Builder Gift Set-2

I decorated the lid as well as all around the box.  The sentiment is from the Honeycomb Hello Stamp Set and the tag from Tags & Labels Framelits is threaded with Whisper White Baker’s Twine.

Botanical Builder Gift Set-3

For the card I used the sentiment from the Birthday Blooms Stamp Set.  Both sentiments were white heat embossed.

Botanical Builder Gift Set-4

I love the unusual look of the box and how, even though this it’s tall (a whopping 18 cm), it still sits flat and is very stable.  You could fit lots in it too!

If you like these colours, please feel free to save and share this colour snapshot.  You can find more colour inspiration on my Pinterest board here.

Sparkly Birthday with Embossed Lace Trim for GDP006

posted in: Cards | 6

Today’s card was designed for the Global Design Project challenge.  It’s sparkly, but soft and feminine at the same time.  And I just had to include my latest fave technique as an element on my card.  If you don’t know what the embossed lace technique is, have a look at my previous post here.

Here’s the Global Design Project sketch that inspired my card:

Whisper White and Perfect Plum were the dominant colours used for this card.  These go beautifully with the silver highlights provided by the embossing and the 1/8″ silver ribbon.  The focal image – the beautiful flower spray from the Awesomely Artistic Stamp Set – was stamped in Smoky Slate and watercoloured using Perfect Plum and Wisteria Wonder for the flowers, Always Artichoke and Wild Wasabi for the leaves and Smoky Slate for the background.  I didn’t think this card needed a “loud” sentiment, so the “happy birthday” from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments Stamp Set was perfect repeated across the bottom of the lace.

Here’s a close up of the card front showing the gorgeous silver embossed lace.  I used the Sahara Sand Lace Trim to get this effect.  Some Dazzling Diamonds in the centre of the flowers tied the image in with the rest of the card.

The flower spray was used inside the card as well to finish it off.

Thank you to the design team for organising the challenge, and thank you for stopping by.  I’d love to see your take on it, so leave me a comment with a link to your project.
