Tasty Trucks Gift Bag for WWYS #102

Hello and welcome to this week’s WWYS Challenge. This week’s stamp set is from the Sale-a-Bration Brochure – Tasty Trucks. You can earn this set for free with a $90 order. These adorably cute images lend themselves to lots of projects. I’m thinking they’d be great for gift tags, 3 x 3 notecards, as well as gift bag decoration, which I’ve done with today’s project.

I’ve layered the truck image which I coloured with watercolour pencils onto Bermuda Bay. These were die cut with the Lots of Labels Framelits. I also added some accents to the trucks tyres, windows and the ice-creams using a white paint pen, and finished off with some clear Wink of Stella (although you can’t see it in the photo).

Keeping with the colour scheme (kind of) I layered a silver metallic foil doily along with two banners cut using the Banners Framelits from Silver Glimmer Paper and one of the designs from the Serene Scenery DSP Stack, added some Sequin Trim and 3.2mm Stitched Ribbon (both in Bermuda Bay) and attached them to the bag with one of the cutest little paper clips from the 2017 Occasions Catalogue Sending Love suite. I added a glue dot behind the bow to secure it properly. The sentiment on the banner also comes from the Tasty Trucks set.

The bag itself has had the watercolouring and ink pad smooshing treatment in Bermuda Bay and Pool Party. Of course this makes the bag look crinkly, but I kinda like that look. What do you think? Do you love it or hate it?

Thanks for stopping by my blog. If you’ve left me a comment, thank you! You’ve made my day. Be sure to hop on over to the WWYS blog to see what everyone else has made and enter your own project. You could be our next guest designer!

Sealed With Love for WWYS #101

Hello and welcome to this week’s WWYS Challenge. This week’s stamp set is Sealed With Love, a great one for Valentine’s cards, but it can just as easily be used for cards like the one I’ve made to send to family and friends to let them know you love them.

On a Shimmery White card base I’ve added another panel (also Shimmery White) onto which I clear embossed the sentiment and then ink blended Real Red, Melon Mambo and Watermelon Wonder. I then die cut the panel using the hearts border die from the Love Notes Framelits Dies. I die cut the border again from a piece with tiny strings of hearts from the Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack so that it fitted perfectly under the main panel. I adhered the two pieces to another piece of Whisper White cardstock and adhered the whole panel to the card base with Foam Adhesive Strips.

Tip: When adding composite pieces to a panel it is better to make it a little larger than the card base and then cut it down to the desired size. This allows you leeway with regard to the border around the panel and the relative size of each element (in this case the depth of the DSP piece. It also allows you to trim away the edges of an ink blended piece which are usually much darker than the rest of the piece that can make the finished card look “untidy”.

I decided it needed something more, so I flicked some water off an acrylic block with a paintbrush until I was happy with the look, dabbing the excess water off with a paper towel.

The finishing touches were Wink of Stella added to the die cut hearts and a few silver metallic hearts.

I also added a strip of the Designer Series Paper to the inside of the card.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. If you’ve left me a comment, thank you! You’ve made my day. Be sure to hop on over to the WWYS blog to see what everyone else has made and enter your own project. You could be our next guest designer!

Update 3 Mar 2017: I have added this card to this week’s Crazy Crafters Highlights. If you’d like to vote for my card, click here. Voting begins at 6:00pm AEST (7:00pm Daylight Saving Time) today and closes on Thursday 9 March 2017.

Teeny Tiny Sentiments for WWYS #91

Hello and welcome to this week’s WWYS Challenge using the Teeny Tiny Sentiments Stamp Set. I have always adored this set. It has so many cute greetings for many different occasions. I’ve used two in today’s project. Here’s the stamp set pic:

91-teeny-tiny-sentiments
Note: The stamp set varies by name and content depending on where you are. In Australia, it’s called Teeny Tiny Sentiments and doesn’t have the Thanksgiving and Halloween greetings; in the US it’s called Teeny Tiny Wishes and doesn’t include the greetings “miss you so much” and “congratulations”.

I paired the sweet little sentiments with the Fancy Frost Suite from the Holiday Catalogue, using Sweet Sugarplum, Soft Sky and Whisper White – non-traditional Christmas colours. I love that!

teeny-tiny-sentiments-1

TIP: You can change the look of an image by selectively colouring parts with Stampin’ Write Markers. In the medallion image on the card, I inked up the image using a Soft Sky ink pad then used my Sweet Sugarplum marker to colour the centre flower and some of the “leaves”.

The box was made with the Popcorn Box Thinlits (it’s not just for popcorn!) and the tag is from the Merry Tags Framelits Dies. I also added some mini jingle bells – they’re so adorable!

teeny-tiny-sentiments-3

The falling snow image used on both the box and the card is from the Merriest Wishes Stamps Set. Using the same stamps on both pieces ties them together. I also added the smallest stitched die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies to back the sentiment. These projects were quick and easy and so much fun to make!

Sweet Home for WWYS #83

Hello and welcome to another WWYS Challenge! This week the stamp set we’re highlighting is Sweet Home. You can buy this set with framelits as a bundle and create 3D houses, however I’ve paired the cute little house with some images from Thoughtful Branches (which is still available to purchase) to create this adorable little ‘home in the forest’ scene.

sweet-home-1

I love that this house can be a spooky Halloween house, a gingerbread house, or a cute little country house, 3D or 2D – so versatile! I’ve used the “thumping” technique to achieve the mottled effect on the tree foliage. And the adorable little curtain is a piece of one of our delicate doilies. I’ve also added some washi from the Affectionately Yours suite along the bottom of the card.

Here’s a pic of all the images in this stamp set. To see the stunning designs from the rest of the Design Team and to submit your own card using the Sweet Home stamp set, click on the image below to hop on over to the What Will You Stamp? Challenge blog site. We’d love to have you join us this week.

In the Meadow for WWYS #79

Hello and welcome! This week’s WWYS (What Will You Stamp?) Challenge is to use the In the Meadow stamp set. Here’s the card I made:

In the Meadow-1

I went with a cameo style using our new Layering Ovals Framelits and created a sunset scene with the tree from the In the Meadow stamp set. The sentiments from the same set got the “signpost” treatment. Below is a picture of the full set.

Sweet Cupcake for WWYS #78

Happy Monday everyone! It’s time for another WWYS (What Will You Stamp?) Challenge, and this week we’re playing with cupcakes! Well, not REAL cupcakes (although that would be nice), but the Sweet Cupcake Stamp Set – here’s the one I baked made:

Sweet Cupcake-1

Yum! I love this stamp set, and how cute is that little loopy die?! If you buy the bundle together, you save 10% AND you can cut out your cupcake, the loopy thingy and the adorable banner I’ve used as well. Here’s pics of both:

Party with Cake for WWYS #76

Hello and welcome to this week’s WWYS Challenge. This week we’re “partying with cake”!  You can join in the fun by playing along with us and submitting your own creation!  Check out what the rest of the Design Team as well as other Challenge players have created here.

This was a fun and simple birthday card to create, and uses two of my fave colours – Sweet Sugarplum and Blushing Bride.

Party with Cake-1

Here’s the stamp set we’re working with this week.

#76 Party with Cake

Despite being simple though, there’s lots of dimension on this card (in the layers and the focal image too), and lots of sparkle! I’m loving the new Layering Circle Framelits. How about you?

Party with Cake-2

And I prettied up the inside as well.

Foxy Friends for WWYS #75

Hello and welcome to another WWYS Challenge.  This week we’ve been given the challenge to use the Foxy Friends Stamp Set. Challenge?  Heck no!  This set is fun and adorable – and versatile too.  You get 29 – yes, 29 images in the set, so there’s lots of room for creating different animals and scenes.  It could be used for just about any occasion, and it comes with a punch.  I bought the bundle and saved 10%.  To see what the rest of the Design Team came up with for this challenge, head on over to the What Will You Stamp Blog.  If you have this set we’d love it if you could join us.  You’d be inspiring us and other crafters all over the world!  And you might just be a winner! How awesome is that?

#75 Foxy Friends

Here’s my card.  I made this one for a customer and she has received it now, so no spoiler!

Foxy Friends-1

I’ve used the same colours as the co-ordinating DSP Stack – Basic Black, Calypso Coral, Pool Party,
Smoky Slate and Whisper White.  A little dash of Cucumber Crush for the leaves makes this little scene pop.  The gorgeous sentiment comes from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set.

If you like this colour combination, please feel free to save and share it.  You can find more inspiration on my Pinterest Colour Inspiration Board.

Jar of Love for WWYS #73

This week’s WWYS Challenge stamp set is Jar of Love.  This set is simply adorable.  Besides flowers, you can fill your jar with fireflies, goldfish, or as I chose to do, with confetti.  You could also fill them with images from other stamp sets too.  I’ve seen jars with fairies and frogs to name a couple.  This is a big set with lots of images, giving you lots of creative options.

#73 Jar of Love

And here’s the card I created:

Jar of Love-1

As you can see, my design is totally inspired by the sentiment.  I’ve used some washi tape from the Pop of Pink and Affectionately Yours packs along the bottom of the panel.  I’ve also used the new Layering Circles Framelits set for the sentiment.  A little bit of copper heat-embossing adds some pizzazz and we’re done!  A simple, quick and fun card.  🙂
